The Lebanon ESG Stewardship Program

The United States Agency for International Development (USAID) funded Trade and Investment Facilitation (TIF) project, launched the Lebanon Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) Stewardship Program in partnership with Capital Concept S.A.L., which is the first of its kind in the Middle East and North Africa region. The Lebanon ESG Stewardship Program will support more than 100 Lebanese corporations and small and medium enterprises in adopting internationally accepted environmental, social, and governance practices.

By becoming one of the first 100 companies in Lebanon to be ESG certified, companies will: improve their management, receive access to finance and investments, sustain and create additional jobs, facilitate trade through access to new markets, and improve organzitional performance and competitiveness.

Implementing ESG criteria is the most effective way that businesses can grow and preserve value. By stepping up to the challenges of our society, businesses can become more innovative, ethical, responsible and ingenious – all of which contributes to nation building. By becoming ESG certified, the Lebanese private sector will become more attractive to investors who increasingly require ESG compliance – creating a diverse ecosystem in the country and paving the way for a more prosperous, sustainable and resilient Lebanon.
